Open Enrollment FAQ

Does Great Hearts Texas charge tuition?

No, there is no tuition at any of our Great Hearts Texas academies. As a public Charter school system in Texas, the state provides a majority of our funding based on enrollment and attendance.

Is financial assistance available for incidental costs?

Yes, financial assistance is available for those who qualify. This may include free or reduced-price meals, help with uniforms, and support for after-school and athletic programs.

If my child is on the waitlist, how long until I receive an enrollment offer?

Enrollment offers are difficult to predict from campus to campus once classes are full. Our registrars make enrollment offers as seats open up due to student withdrawals. While seats often become available before the start of school, there’s no way to guarantee when or how many will open up in each grade.

Will my waitlist number change?

Yes, your waitlist number can change. The waitlist is organized by application type and priority status. When a current student withdraws, our registrars offer the open seat to the next student on the list. If you are on the waitlist, your number will change according to the Enrollment of students with lower waitlist numbers.

What happens if my child is not offered a seat during the 2026-2027 school year lottery?

If your child does not receive an offer for the 2026-2027 school year, you will need to reapply during the Open Enrollment period for the 2027-2028 school year. This year’s waitlist numbers are only valid for the 2026-2027 school year.

If I have a fully registered child, does their sibling automatically receive an enrollment offer?

If one child is enrolled, their siblings are given priority on the waitlist but are not assured Enrollment. Sibling priority increases the chances of getting a seat, but there are no guarantees.

Does Great Hearts Texas accept early Kindergarten students?

No; we follow state guidelines, which require that a child be five years old before September 1st of the year they enroll in Kindergarten. We do not make exceptions or offer early entrance testing for Kindergarten.
