Great Hearts Texas is committed to providing an educational environment in which all students are treated with dignity and respect. Great Hearts Texas complies with applicable civil rights laws, including Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, as well as the nondiscrimination provisions governing open-enrollment charter schools under the Texas Education Code.
As required by Title IX, Great Hearts Texas does not (and is required not to) discriminate on the basis of sex in its educational programs or activities. This non-discrimination requirement applies to admission to and employment with Great Hearts Texas. Inquires on issues related to Title IX may referred to the Title IX Coordinator (identified below), to the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights of the Department of Education, or both.
Individuals who believe they have experienced discrimination or unequal treatment may report concerns through the appropriate compliance coordinator(s) listed above or through the grievance procedures described in this handbook. Retaliation against individuals who report discrimination or participate in an investigation is strictly prohibited. Great Hearts Texas will take reasonable steps to ensure meaningful access to school information for parents and guardians with limited English proficiency, including providing translation or interpretation services when feasible.
